This instrument has a barrel diameter of 7/8" and is 20-15/16" in overall length. The mouthpiece section consists of twice dyed/stabilized, box elder burl, between layers of African ebony, and capped with the red cedar. The fetish block is cut from the cedar as well, and bonded to a base of addl. cedar, as a moisture barrier. The wing overlays consist of paua abalone and left and right contrasting blond and red cedar.
Inlay for the flute, beginning at the mouthpiece includes an 8.7mm abalone orange pearl, flanked by 4.4mm turquoise cabs and 11mm quartz capped black mother of pearl disks set to the compression chamber. Forward from the fetish block is a 6.7mm faceted Brazilian azotic topaz followed by finger hole accents of 4.4mm abalone dots, and another 4.4mm turquoise cab. Lastly, the fetish has a 6mm hematite cab set to the crown, and 2.8mm hematite beads set as eyes. ......The flute is further accented with a slide off band of So. Dakota prairie rattlesnake skin.
The flute was tuned at 72F with a wood temp of 73F, and humidity of 57% at 122 ft. above sea level.
