This G# flute is 18-15/16 inches in length, with a one inch bore diameter. The woods/materials for the mouthpiece include dyed/stabilized Box Elder burl, between layers of Southeast Asian Amboyna burl, capped with poplar. The fetish is cut from poplar, bonded to a base of Oklahoma red cedar. Overlay to the bird consists of Paua Abalone and additional poplar.Inlay begins at the mouthpiece, to include a 1ct. 6mm faceted Aurora Azotic topaz from Brazil, flanked by 4.3mm domed turquoise cabs. Moving forward, each side of the compression chamber is accented with an 18mm disk of the Box Elder burl, subtly hand colorized to match crushed Arizona Chrysocolla, and a 4mm abalone cab. Moving ahead, the sound chamber includes a 17x22mm teardrop cut Mexican crazy lace agate, while the finger holes are accented with four 4mm paua abalone dots, two 2.8mm abalone dots and a beautiful unique little 6mm mother of pearl cab I’ve had for years. Lastly, the fetish includes a 6mm quartz capped abalone cab set to the crown, and two 2.3mm faceted African black diamonds, set as eyes.
My camera was unable to pick up a lot of the subtle beauty of this piece.
This flute was tuned at 72.3 degrees F, @60% humidity.
